Indigenous
In 2016, The Harbinger Foundation Board decided to focus efforts on two challenging areas within Canadian Indigenous communities: food security & nutrition and youth & culture.
This program supports the ongoing development of healthy communities through:
Better access to fresh, nutritious, affordable, locally sourced food
Supporting the strengthening and reclaiming of culture, essential to healing.
Building respect between our peoples by encouraging interaction and educating about Indigenous issues.
Because this program is labour intensive and consists of small grants ($5000-$15,000), MakeWay has been contracted to manage it. We feel honoured to be working with MakeWay and with all of the Indigenous projects that are doing amazing work for their communities.
How to Apply
MakeWay is the managing partner of the Harbinger Foundation’s Indigenous program. Contact Antonia Taylor at MakeWay for more information.
Deadlines
Granting is generally made in the spring and in the fall. Most grants are made with the advice of MakeWay. We do not solicit applications.
